Designers, a layout needs a reason stronger than “I like it.” Start with what the brief actually fixes: the message, the exact copy, the identity and the placement. The Visual Brief Kit gives you a written procedure for turning those constraints into design proposals. Its original skill asks for a production brief, two distinct art directions, a raster-study brief, format plans and a handoff log. Each direction needs a reading order, palette roles and a trade-off. Each format needs its own composition plan. The fictional Luma Desk brief shows the problem: three formats, a mandatory line, two colors, but no supplied typeface or product image. See that actual brief beside the method that asks you to keep those gaps visible. You get one original skill and nineteen adapted prompts, selected for this workflow, with credits. Free brief, style and decision templates and workflow notes are included separately. US$39, paid once, ordered on WhatsApp and delivered manually by email. Bring your own AI account and design tools. Build the rationale. Then build the artwork.

Put the decision back in your hands

The Visual Brief Kit gives you a written route from supplied constraints to art-direction proposals, format plans and handoff checks. One original skill, 19 adapted prompts and separate free extras. Build the rationale before you build the artwork.

A mandatory line that will not fit? A color rule buried in feedback? A vertical placement treated like a square crop? Start where the decision starts: exact copy, identity rules, dimensions and missing assets. The method asks for the constraint behind the choice.

You are buying a curated collection of written workflows, files, guides and licensed adaptations for this profession.

What this proves

A real Codex response exists for this fictional en-US case. The selected text is shown literally. It does not establish a win over another prompt, customer results, time savings or compatibility with other apps.

These examples describe the fictional Luma Desk brief. Its template and onboarding call are not part of the kit sold here.

Completed review: scope and results

Completed internal review, 31 October 2026: five fictional en-US cases in Codex CLI 0.166.0, with a one-line prompt, a good prompt and the original skill. Each response was assessed against five frozen binary rubric criteria. The skill met 23/25 criteria; the good prompt met 20/25 and the one-line prompt 18/25. The skill scored above the good prompt in 3/5 cases and passed the predefined threshold of three strict case wins. Ties did not count as wins. This was a local agent assessment of written responses, without external professional validation. The requested model was gpt-6.1-sol, recorded in the headers but not independently confirmed by model JSON. These are documentary rubric results, not measured time savings, productivity, finished media quality, app compatibility or general superiority. Rubric limits remain: some design checks required a CTA absent from the brief; some copy checks required source IDs for supplied conditions without IDs. The rubric was not changed after seeing the outputs.

Final work needs your professional checks.

Give the direction a brief to answer to

visual-brief-desk starts with what is fixed and what is missing. It then asks for two distinct art-direction proposals, their trade-offs and their links to the brief. Use the five sections as a practical design-planning procedure:

  • Production brief: instructions for a source-linked matrix of constraints and gaps.
  • Art directions: instructions for two distinct proposals, their rationale and trade-offs.
  • Raster study: a written generation brief with invariants and exclusions; no image is generated by the document.
  • Formats: instructions for recomposition plans rather than stretched artwork.
  • Feedback: an approval and handoff log with checks for the designer.

visual-brief-desk

One original professional skill. Five connected tasks. Written instructions you can read and adapt to your own authorised work.

Read all 19 adapted prompt descriptions
  1. Criteria-led draft review

Review the clarity of a direction rationale against approved constraints.

  2. Work from the supplied context

Answer a campaign-brief question using authorised identity rules only.

  3. Keep an approved output pattern

Keep the designer’s approved composition-rationale format.

  4. Extract requirements in source order

Extract dimensions, mandatory copy, asset requirements and prohibited changes.

  5. Separate proposal and review roles

Separate a proposed art direction from its brief/consistency review.

  6. Structured source summary

Summarise campaign themes and source-linked subjects for a visual sequence.

  7. Names and spelling ledger

Check spelling of brand/product names before typesetting.

  8. Premise to outline to short draft

Plan a carousel sequence through premise, outline and individual frames.

  9. Key-visual raster-study instruction

Use after direction approval to brief a raster key-visual study with a specific subject, aspect ratio and invariant product geometry.

  10. Visual philosophy card

Use before opening the design canvas when the designer needs to explain a visual direction through composition properties rather than vague taste adjectives.

  11. Owned sketch to style-study brief

Use when a designer owns a rough sketch and wants to specify material/style studies while preserving its composition and key shapes.

  12. Consistent editorial scene plan

Use when a short editorial sequence needs consistent subjects, repeated features and text-free illustration briefs across several scenes.

  13. Controlled asset tags and descriptions

Use when an asset library needs controlled search tags and concise visible-content descriptions before choosing stills or B-roll references.

  14. Candidate crop-region map

Use before recomposing formats when the designer needs candidate object regions to protect from a crop; inspect all coordinates before using them.

  15. Read a table before drawing it

Use before drawing an infographic to check what an authorised source table actually supports and what data/calculation is missing.

  16. Screenshot review conversation

Use between versions when a still/screenshot and its brief need a visible-change review with decisions preserved for the next pass.

  17. Topic and relevance triage

Use to sort revision requests or source articles into editorial topics without confusing a passing mention with the main issue.

  18. Visible product facts to concept notes

Use when turning a product sketch into visual/message concepts and visible features must stay separate from supplied technical claims and assumptions.

  19. Constraint reasoning worksheet

Use when dimensions, offer conditions or brief restrictions appear to conflict and the professional needs an explicit constraint worksheet before choosing a plan.
