Video editors, the best line still needs the right cut. You have the interview. Now decide what belongs, what needs context and what still needs checking. That is the work behind the Edit Decision Kit. Its original method takes you through candidate cuts, paper edits, captions, B-roll notes and review decisions. Start with source IDs. Carry the opening and closing words into the proposal. Keep timing assumptions visible. In the fictional Luma Desk transcript, the question about saving half the editing time is followed by a clear denial of measurement. That context belongs with the quote. See the supplied source and the actual method together. You get twenty main items: one original skill and nineteen adapted prompts, selected and documented for this workflow. A brief sheet, style card, decision log and workflow notes come as free extras. The kit is US$39, paid once. Order on WhatsApp for manual email delivery. Bring your own AI account and editing tools. Choose the method, then make the editing decisions yours.

Put the decision back in your hands

The Edit Decision Kit puts source IDs, candidate cuts, paper edits and review decisions into one written method. One original skill, 19 adapted prompts and separate free extras. Bring the transcript. Work through the decisions. Finish in your own editor.

A great line, but what came before it? A caption, but which spelling was approved? A change request, but who owns it? Build the plan around the actual source. The method asks for the words, the timing basis and the checks still needed before the export.

You are buying a curated collection of written workflows, files, guides and licensed adaptations for this profession.

See what the source becomes.

Fictional input. Real generated text.
Human judgement still required.

Read the actual decision

Use the controls in the opening demonstration to inspect each source and its recorded output. Both remain labelled; the output is an excerpt, not a complete deliverable.

  • C1 — S1–S2. Source case 1; response excerpt from the edit-decision-desk trial.
  • C2 — S4. Source case 1; response excerpt from the edit-decision-desk trial.
  • C3 — S5–S6. Source case 1; response excerpt from the edit-decision-desk trial.
  • C1 · S1–S2 · 60 seconds — “Establishes the lost-brief problem, introduces one board, and explains request/decision/owner columns and client approval.” Literal continuation from the same recorded output. Segment timing only; no exact spoken boundaries or media checked. The fictional-project and unmeasured-productivity qualifications remain; the result must be checked in the editing application.

What this proves

A real Codex response exists for this fictional en-US case. The selected text is shown literally. It does not establish a win over another prompt, customer results, time savings or compatibility with other apps.

These examples describe the fictional Luma Desk brief. Its template and onboarding call are not part of the kit sold here.

Completed review: scope and results

Completed internal review, 31 October 2026: five fictional en-US cases in Codex CLI 0.166.0, with a one-line prompt, a good prompt and the original skill. Each response was assessed against five frozen binary rubric criteria. The skill met 25/25 criteria; the good prompt met 25/25 and the one-line prompt 23/25. The skill scored above the good prompt in 0/5 cases and did not pass the predefined threshold of three strict case wins. Ties did not count as wins. This was a local agent assessment of written responses, without external professional validation. The requested model was gpt-6.1-sol, recorded in the headers but not independently confirmed by model JSON. These are documentary rubric results, not measured time savings, productivity, finished media quality, app compatibility or general superiority. Rubric limits remain: some design checks required a CTA absent from the brief; some copy checks required source IDs for supplied conditions without IDs. The rubric was not changed after seeing the outputs.

Final work needs your professional checks.

The method behind the cut

Use edit-decision-desk as a decision desk for the interview: choose the task, supply the source, carry its IDs into the proposal, then review the cut in the timeline. The five sections cover these concrete jobs:

  • Candidate cuts: instructions for source IDs, proposed in/out points and context checks.
  • Paper edit: a source-to-output table with dialogue, picture proposals and pending checks.
  • Captions and glossary: draft instructions that keep spelling and timing questions visible.
  • B-roll and temporary narration: written shot briefs and source-linked narration instructions.
  • Feedback and export: a decision log and checks for the editor to perform.

One original professional skill. Five connected tasks. Written instructions you can read and adapt to your own authorised work.

Read all 19 adapted prompt descriptions
  1. Criteria-led draft review

Review the wording and context of a proposed paper edit against the transcript.

  2. Work from the supplied context

Answer an editing-brief question from transcript and client instructions only.

  3. Keep an approved output pattern

Keep the editor’s approved cut-list format using owned examples.

  4. Extract requirements in source order

Extract requested aspect ratios, durations and caption/export constraints.

  5. Separate proposal and review roles

Propose edits separately from continuity/context review.

  6. Structured source summary

Summarise an interview into source-linked topics for decupage.

  7. Names and spelling ledger

Build a spelling glossary for captions and project references.

  8. Premise to outline to short draft

Build a short narrative cut in approval stages rather than an uncontrolled long script.

  9. Scene notes with candidate timecodes

Use during first-pass footage logging when the editor needs a searchable list of visible actions and candidate timecodes before opening each candidate in the timeline.

  10. Quick footage synopsis

Use when naming and organising a batch of authorised rushes and a short, faithful synopsis is more useful than a full decupage table.

  11. Classify authorised B-roll

Use when an editor has many authorised B-roll clips and wants candidate subject labels for a controlled bin structure.

  12. First transcript from authorised audio

Use to request the first revisable speech transcript or a bounded interval before the editor checks names and aligns captions.

  13. Temporary rhythm and harmony notes

Use optionally when choosing edit pacing against an owned music cue and rough tempo/harmony notes would help the editor audition alternatives.

  14. Temporary voice direction

Use when a producer needs a clear temporary-read direction to assess script timing before commissioning or recording an approved voice.

  15. Synthetic B-roll shot brief

Use when a paper edit has a missing illustrative shot and the editor wants to brief a possible synthetic B-roll candidate before deciding whether to generate it.

  16. Scene-by-scene animatic sheet

Use before an animatic to keep scene image directions, narration and character invariants together for approval.

  17. Controlled asset tags and descriptions

Use when an asset library needs controlled search tags and concise visible-content descriptions before choosing stills or B-roll references.

  18. Instrumental temp-track structure

Use when a sequence needs a temp-track direction that follows its beats and leaves room for dialogue before a musician or optional generator is engaged.

  19. Screenshot review conversation

Use between versions when a still/screenshot and its brief need a visible-change review with decisions preserved for the next pass.

Bring your judgement.

  1. Unzip and read

After delivery, unzip the attachment on your own device. Read GUIDE.md, the original skill and the credits before choosing a task.

  2. Prepare an authorised source

Start with an authorized transcript and the timing information you actually have. Choose candidate cuts, a paper edit, captions, B-roll notes or feedback review. Use the relevant instructions with your own AI environment, then compare the draft with the source. Check exact frames, sync, sound and the final export in your editing software.

  3. Review in your own tools

This is a ZIP of written instructions, prompts and references. It does not operate Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, transcribe a recording by itself, or deliver a finished edit. Frame accuracy, sync, sound and export approval remain your checks.

Accounts, plans and installation limits

You need a way to unzip and read text/PDF files. Running a prompt requires your own suitable AI account or text environment; no app installation or compatibility is confirmed for this release. Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini apps have not been tested. Accounts, paid plans, APIs, media tools and credits are not included. Final production uses your own professional tools.

The recorded Codex case is a text trial, not a test of account installation or every item. No plan recommendation or software access is included.
